When your cats and kittens need support quickly and rushing to the veterinarian is not an option, it is easy to feel helpless and confused. In this article, we are going to share the first three of six supportive care products that we keep stocked in our own feline medicine cabinet at all times, as well as how we use them and when.
These products have enabled us to save the lives of dozens of critically ill cats and kittens over the years when outside care was limited or not possible. In the next newsletter we will round out our top six list of the things we are never without.

FeLife By Doc Clemens Remedies

Primary use cases: Feline Leukemiavirus (FeLV), Feline AIDS (FIV), oral health issues (FCV, stomatitis), skin conditions, coughing, sneezing, stomach and gut trouble, decreased appetite, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), vaccine detox

We found out about FeLife from a Feline Leukemiavirus (FeLV) support page where a lady used it- in conjunction with Proboost and a few other treatments- to completely cure her cat for FeLV. Her little guy is 100% PCR negative after being days from death’s door. Her story with Jasper was so compelling, we decided to try it with our own FeLV/ FCV (Feline Calicivirus) cats and kittens.
Results: 100% effective in reducing coughing, sneezing, increasing appetite, stamina, and itchy skin (not related to fleas). Also great post-surgery in place of the antibiotic Clindamiacin. We actually threw that antibiotic away after learning about the terrible side effects. FeLife is also effective for detoxing from vaccines, especially if given early after the shots. Dose: drops are placed in water, wiped on fur, or directly in the mouth- depending on what your cats will allow. Can be used long term, and also just for a week or two during a flare-up. Angstrom Minerals Ionic Silver and Ionic Sulfur

Use cases: Angstrom Silver- viruses, dewormer, ear mites, oral care, coughing, sneezing
Use cases: Angstrom Sulfur- bacterial infections, pneumonia, flea dermatitis, wound care, skin care, fur care

Colloidal silver water  (link) has shot up in popularity over the years, and for good reason. It is used in gel form in burn units to help regrow skin, it was used in ancient times to pump clean water in to cities, and silver coins were used to preserve raw milk for days with no refrigeration. So how can it help your cat?

5 PPM (parts per million) is all that is needed to kill viruses. But not all colloidal silver is created equal. While mist sprayers with 15PPM to 20PPM are convenient, they are also expensive and inefficient. We use Angstrom silver because it is significantly cheaper per ounce, and lasts so much longer. It is also smaller in particle size (angstrom is the smallest molecule while colloidal is much larger).

Dose: 1TBSP of Angstrom 600 PPM extra silver per one gallon of water, or
2TBSP of Angstrom 300 PPM silver per gallon of water. Serve in cat’s water bowl for 1 week intervals, taking 3-5 days off in between to give the kidneys a chance to rest.
This mixture can also be rubbed gently in ears

CAUTION: It has been mentioned cats do not have the ability to detox heavy metals from their bodies, therefore silver is unsafe to use in cats. However, this is only in heavy, sustained doses with low quality silver products. We do not recommend using more than 10 PPM daily for one week at a time, and use angstrom-sized minerals. This has been completely safe for all our cats for more than 10 years with zero elevated blood levels of any kind indicating any kind of toxicity.
Also, cats and kittens suffering from whipworms, tapeworms, coccidia, etc may experience a reaction to the silver water and begin to throw up the worms in their intestines and throats. Young kittens and outdoor cats have been known to throw up quite a few worms in a few days- this is much safer than any kind of chemical wormer, as the silver water is dehydrating the organisms from the inside and causing them to detatch from the body naturally.

Ionic Sulfur water (link) is a powerhouse antibiotic substitute. Again, we use the Angstrom Mineral brand due to it’s tiny molecular size to ensure maximum absorbability. Sulfur is the primary compound within animal and human antibiotics, recognized throughout history as an antibacterial agent, given orally for bacterial infection and used topically as fungicides and bactericides for the treatment of cutaneous infections. Of significant importance also is the prevention of biofilm formation- a potentially fatal byproduct of excess sugars in the diet caused by dry food consumption.

The therapeutic applications are numerous: such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anticonvulsant, antitubercular, antidiabetic, antileishmanial, carbonic anhydrase, antimalarial, anticancer and other medicinal agents. Sulfur (not to be confused with the chemically-created “sulfa” compound, can be used to replace Doxycycline in many use cases. It is used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others. Dose: We use 2TBSP of Angstrom Proline Sulfur per gallon of water. Each TBSP is 6000 Parts Per Million (PPM). Can be used in a spray bottle for skin issues, hot spots, hyperesthesia, dermatitis, fleas, ear issues etc. Can also be served in a water bowl for free drinking- one week on and then one week off to allow the body to rest. Cats and kittens with sensitive stomachs or dealing with severe health issues may become gassy ( rotten egg smell) for a week or so as their bodies adjust to the higher mineral content, and is completely normal, as most bodies are very deficient in sulfur. With consistent use, can repel fleas and mosquites, as well as strengthen fur, muscle strength, eyes, and oral health (especially for stomatitis)!
