Health, Bugs, and Kittens!

Checking In

Basket of Baby Boy Kittens!

Saying Hello Today…

We are glad to be back with you and your loved ones. These past weeks have been part of an ongoing journey of transformation with health life, kids, cats- well, everything!

The kittens are growing at breakneck speed, rushing about underfoot and chewing on every human and dog part they can sink their teeth in to. Ever the little hunters, we are encouraging their prey drive by placing down small bowls of raw chicken livers and larger chunks of chicken for them to gnaw on. We promise not to show pictures, but it is pretty adorable to watch a tiny little being act like a ferocious hungry tiger!

Feline Calicivirus is alive and well in our home unfortunately, but we are keeping the kittens and cats as stress-free as possible, and using our stand-by of FeLife by Doc Clemens remedies mixed in canned food, as well as keeping about a tsp of ansgtrom silver in each large water bowl for a few weeks at a time to keep the sneezing down. ( Half a teaspoon of this 300 ppm angstrom silver from this link is more than enough in a water bowl for one cat! It only takes 5 ppm to kill viruses.)

Perhaps the most exciting development of the past several weeks has been bugs! We found an excellent supply of black soldier fly larvae for our Feline Kidney Revive that our cats and kittens actually like! See, cats tend to love dried mealworms- also high in protein and vital amino acids in proportions great for CKD cats. The only problem? If a human is allergic to iodine or shellfish, then crickets and mealworms can send us to the hospital. So, we have been faced with a dilemma. The taste and smell of black soldier fly larvae (which has more calcium than mealworms and are healthier for CKD cats) is just not palatable for cats. We tried 5 brands. Hands down, mealworms won.

Slightly frustrated but determined, we finally managed to find ONE brand of black soldier fly larvae that everyone would eat when mixed in to the formula. Hooray! We put it over dry and wet food- no change of appetite. Score! If your loved one is facing a diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or just needs an immune system boost, feel free to check it out!

As a final note, as a founder of A Healed Cat, I am committed to the wellbeing of cats and their human families. In an effort to be more of a service to all of you, I am joining forces with Julie-Anne Thorne of Naturally Cats to become a Soul Led Cat Guardian. I am excited to embark on this journey of personal and professional development to bring healing and hope to cat families everywhere.
